The Night Bazaar is a monthly series of new music presented in conjunction with AIMToronto occuring on the last Wednesday of each month in Toronto, Canada.
Music-wise, we schedule an equal portion of musicians from the “Ethnic folk music/World Music” and “Experimental music” leaning heavily on improvisation. There will be chess boards/pieces set-up at most of the tables so the audience can play a game before/after/during the live music as an added form of entertainment.

10:50pm - Debashis Sinha's 'shruti'
'shruti' is a live audio performance that uses field recordings collected in
the streets of Kolkata, India as source material. Each iteration of the project
is unique---audio is triggered and manipulated live in the moment, in response
to the material itself and the environment in which it is played. A meditation
on sound and identity, Sinha's performance uses the everyday sound of Kolkata to
craft a travelogue of universal proportions. Previous performances of shruti
include shows in Berlin, the Sound Symposium, and the Banff Centre.
